Assessing the Tebesi River: A Call for Conservation
Our recent visit to the Tebesi River aimed to evaluate its flow and the urgent need to conserve riparian lands through bamboo planting. However, we encountered unexpected challenges at Manga Tebesi, where the river appears to have been deliberately blocked.
During our discussions with local farmer Mr. Samson Mwita Nyamohanga, he revealed that a neighbor had obstructed the river, a conflict stemming from a dispute over riparian land. Despite our efforts, we could not locate the accused, as he has reportedly gone into hiding.
Further insights from Ass Chief Nancy, who had visited the site earlier, confirmed that the individual is evading authorities due to several alleged crimes.
Despite these challenges, the Green Aid Foundation remains committed to assessing all rivers in the region. Our mission to promote conservation and sustainable land management continues as we seek solutions for the protection of our vital water resources. Stay tuned for further updates as we navigate these complexities.
